Seeing Stars, or Not Seeing Stars

When you look at the three entries below, do my "star" graphics—my rating system for each nominated performance—appear correctly? Or do you see red, empty boxes, as I did today from an Internet Explorer browser at work? Or do you see red question marks, as I did from a Firefox browser on the same computer, even though my Firefox browser at home recognizes the stars just fine? Let a FlickPicker know if his jelly is making sense.

Also, imagine my surprise in discovering that my very own star has at long last broken down and posted a comment to this blog. And what occasioned this watershed decision? Not my new job. Not the mugging. No. Best Actress. Reader, it's exactly like I'm always telling him, and you: the Best Actress Oscar category is the magnetic pole around which the entire internet rotates.

Which I guess means that I'm enabling this addiction/sexual orientation/vortex of list-making and counting down. Well, I'm fine with that, as long as on the way to seeing every Best Actress nominee in Oscar history, I'm never made to sit through Butterfield 8 again. No sale!

Oh Blog Widow, we so need to get together for consolatory cocktails. It's like the play Tennessee forgot to write...

The Boyfriend! Honey, Chicago topped 100 degrees today, so you better believe that the FlickPicker and I have been downing bourbon slushes and mint juleps Williams-style to get ourselves through the day. Alas, no young collectors as of yet, or "flores para los muertos" for that matter, but otherwise, it's positively Deep South here right now. And yes, you and I will have to find a moment to get sloshed together while keening in billowy veils, in observation of our bloggerly widowhood.

And Dr. S., hello there! So nice to be one of the crew at last. To those of you I already know, heya! To those I don't, pleased to meet you--I don't pretend to have Nick's filmic savvy, but if you need to talk opera or tap dancing, I'm your man.

Hi Dr S! Hi Derek! I get stars on safari, though the filled ones are much smaller than the hollow ones for some reason.

I note that difference in the stars' size when I look at them on Safari, as well.

Hi Nick! Hi Derek!,

I'm in Firefox, on a Mac, all the stars are there and they are all the same size. So glad you two are settled in enough to get back into the online world.

xo,
Melissa

Thanks, everyone, for the feedback.

If we could collect all the commenters on this post for a real-life cocktail party, I'd be a happy happy happy man.
