Ever feel like you're stuck in a year that you can't get out of? I realize that it's March, for crying out loud, but I'm afraid that I am still not done celebrating the movie year we have now said goodbye to, over and over again. Perhaps early-childhood imprinting has shaped my awards-season metabolism around the late March calendar, even though the Oscars have been on their accelerated schedule for five years now. Or maybe I just have an incredibly demanding job. Either way, and perhaps because I am sitting in a faraway city attending an
academic conference with two
blogging buddies, and because I find conferences to be helpful reminders that we academics (especially in our home disciplines) really are In This Thing Together, I present you with the long-delayed Nick's Flick Picks Honorees for
Best Ensemble. Apologies about length, but with this many delectable performances to cover, one tends to overween.

LOVE it!
Great read, as usual. Especially glad to see the love for Into the Wild - a kind of salve after Oscar's cold shoulder.
I would have made room for Hairspray... not sure who I'd replace, but I'll say This Is England for now, but I haven't seen it so that could change.
Strong list, generally, but it's odd to me that you single out everybody from Into the Wild apart from Keener, who I felt was the strongest player in the bunch (though I adored Dierker and Holbrook about as much). Also, while you do bring up 4 very strong candidates (maybe 5 - I'm yet to see This Is England), they pale beside the ensemble from 4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days (which - like the film itself - has gone grotesquely underrepresented not only among the awards bodies, but among all these blogger awards as well).
