New on DVD
I recently signed off as a Cinemarati critic, but as they say, when one door closes, another opens. Stop Smiling Magazine just published my short review of Image Entertainment's DVD of Derek Jarman's The Last of England, a film I love almost as much as Andrei Rublev. There may or may not be more opportunities to write for SS (prospects look reasonably good), but it's already a treat to sing the praises of such a great and often-overlooked film.Labels: Nick in Print, Queer Cinema, Tilda Swinton

When/why did you leave Cinemarati?
Congrats on the Stop Smiling review!
Gosh. I really must see more Jarman, and maybe I'll start here. Fab review.
What's with the savaging of Angelopoulos lower down the page though? I don't think I'm as big a fan of his as you are, but ouch!
Nick didn't write the Angelopoulos review--only the Jarman one! (I leap to his defense!)
No, I knew that. Just wanted Nick to leap to TA's defence!
Oh, I get it! Too much Thackeray for me today, I fear--makes me want to jump to everyone's defense (except for Angelopoulos, apparently).
