Glad Kinnear is getting some attention from bloggers, at least. I think he had Sunshine's most difficult role (certainly Richard is the hardest role to make believable and/or likable, and Kinnear managed to do both with nuance and skill). Without him adding so much dimension and heart to his rich portrayal, I'm not sure if the film would have worked half as well.

I found it curious Kinnear was overlooked when the critics awards were passed out, as I can't think of another actor who topped him last year.

Great nominees! My own list is more mainstream than yours, but I'm thrilled someone finally recognized Baldwin, as he makes my own list:

- Alec Baldwin (The Departed)
- Steve Carell (Little Miss Sunshine)
- Jackie Earle Haley (Little Children)
- Michael Sheen (The Queen)
- Mark Wahlberg (The Departed)

I'm excited to see your nominees for Supporting Actress, as that's the category that's giving me the most trouble at the moment. My four set-in-stone nominees are:

- Adriana Barazza (Babel)
- Emily Blunt (The Devil Wears Prada)
- Shareeka Epps (Half Nelson)
- Meryl Streep (A Prairie Home Companion)

For that fifth slot I've been switching in and out Abigail Breslin (Little Miss Sunshine), Vera Farmiga (The Departed), Jennifer Hudson (Dreamgirls), Ashley Johnson (Fast Food Nation), and Fiona Shaw (The Black Dahlia).

It's been a wild ride for these actresses, I'm sure.

No match-up with my own picks, although Nolte would probably have made my list last year. He was an extremely sympathetic character in Clean, and his scenes opposite Cheung were moving and tender. Fantastic.

Psycho, Kinnear isn't nominated for Little Miss Sunshine, but for Fast Food Nation.

Supporting Actor is always the most boring category and this year was no different.

I understand the Kinnear nod was for Nation, but I thought it was okay to mention his work in Sunshine in my comment, as it's also a 2006 release, and Kinnear was fantastic in it.
